I am excited this August to be participating in the 5th Annual Timmerman Traverse, hiking 20 miles of beautiful, rugged terrain scaling 7,000 feet of elevation in the North Cascades; I finally (after years!) am able to make one of these trips, and to contribute at least $35,000 to the incredible work that Life Science Cares does to rally the biotech ecosystem to help fight poverty.
While in my day to day role I’m helping to discover and develop drugs that will hopefully benefit patients years down the line, in addition to health and freedom from disease, too many people suffer from acute material needs, for things like food and shelter, and I believe it’s the responsibility of our ecosystem to help alleviate this need alongside our long-term work to bring better medicines to patients. Life Science Cares provides direct, tangible support to people in acute need, along with aiding in education, job training and mentorship to improve long-term outcomes for our communities writ large; with the added benefit of casting our industry in a positive light and hopefully building commitment to the important work that we do.

I’m only a sporadic hiker, but agreed to take on this challenge for the great cause—and I hope you will join me in donating to the incredible work that LSC does!
